Your Story Has Been Submitted
We love hearing from Des Moines locals. Our team will read your submission and reach out if it's a great fit for the Digest.
Here's How It Works
We have everything we need to take a look. Thanks for taking the time to share it with us.
We personally read every pitch that comes in. We're looking for stories that feel genuine, surprising, or deeply human — the kind that make our readers lean in.
If your story is a fit, someone from our team will contact you by phone or email to set up a conversation, learn more, and talk through next steps — including photos.
We write it, we photograph it (or work with what you have), and we share it with thousands of locals who love discovering the people that make this city what it is.
Every story we receive matters — but not every story can be featured. We pick carefully so each one feels special.
Submitting a pitch does not guarantee a feature in the Des Moines Digest. We select stories based on fit, timing, and our editorial direction. If we don't reach out, it doesn't mean the story isn't worth telling — we're just limited in how many we can run. You're always welcome to submit again in the future.
What to Expect From Us
A Call or Email From Our Team
We'll introduce ourselves and set up a time to learn more. Keep an eye on your phone and inbox — we'll come from a Des Moines number or our team email address.
A Relaxed Conversation
We're not journalists with notepads — we're just curious people who want to hear your story the way you'd tell it to a friend. No formal interview, just a good chat.
Photos That Bring It to Life
Great stories deserve great images. We may arrange to stop by and take some photos, or ask you to share a few of your own that capture who you are.
We Do the Writing
You don't need to write a single word. We'll craft the story ourselves in the voice of the Digest, and you'll have a chance to review it before it goes out.
"Des Moines is full of remarkable people. We're glad you helped us find one more."
